Auto-pedestrian accidents are one of the leading causes of crash-related deaths in Illinois and the United States. It leaves the pedestrian with mostly severe or fatal injuries. The former covers head lacerations, traumatic brain injury (TBI), broken bones, internal bleeding, and organ damage.
The above is avoidable if drivers and pedestrians put safety first. Pedestrians should stick to designated crosswalks when crossing and adhere to the sidewalk when walking, while drivers must maintain the speed limit and yield to those on foot.
