At about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 5th, a female pedestrian lost her life on Interstate Highway 80 in the Contra Costa County area of California. The accident report revealed her name as Jamela Kinard, a 40-year-old resident of Oakland.
The California Highway Patrol said in a press release that a car struck the victim on the westbound lane of the interstate. The preliminary investigation uncovered that a Dodge Ram collided with a Buick Sedan that stopped in the far left westbound lane just east of Willow Avenue.

Kinard, the driver of the Buick, came out of the car to stand on the roadway, and a passing vehicle struck her. The woman died at the scene, while the Dodge’s driver from the earlier collision suffered moderate injuries. The medics took the motorist to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment.
The investigators are trying to determine what caused the victim to stop her car and whether drugs or (and) alcohol contributed. Anyone with relevant information about the accident should contact the CHP Contra Costa Office on the listed line.
Stopping on the highway is not advisable, especially in the fast lane.
