Johnnic sustained critical injuries in the crash. He succumbed to his injuries and died on the scene of the accident. Jacoby sustained moderate injuries after his Jeep overturned following the collision. As the first responders reached the scene of the crash, he was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Castillo-Tobar remained safe in the incident and had no notable injuries to report.
ISP continues to investigate the incident. Based on the preliminary investigations, ISP has issued Jacoby a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. It remains to be seen in subsequent accident reports whether any of the other drivers share the responsibility for the unfortunate incident.
