When firefighters and PG&E crews arrived, they discovered the power pole had fallen on the truck after being hit, causing a small vehicle fire.
Two motorists were inside the truck at the time of the collision. One was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and the other was unharmed.
According to authorities, a transformed on the pole began to leak fluid onto the pavement. Firefighters placed dirt to block the liquid from going into the street’s storm drains. Hazmat crews were dispatched to assist with the containment of the liquid.
Firefighters chose to let the fire burn out so that water would not force the transformer liquid to drain.
Areas in downtown, southwest and southeast Fresno were affected by the temporary power outages.
