BAKERSFIELD, CA – Authorities say a family is displaced after their home in southwest Bakersfield caught fire on Thursday morning.
According to KGET, the blaze began at a house on Ashe Road near Ming Avenue at about 6:45 a.m.

Bakersfield Fire Battalion Chief Mike Lencioni said he spotted the rising smoke from his home nearby.
Fortunately, all residents were able to safely escape. Firefighters were told there were several animals inside and were able to save a cat. It is currently unknown if any more animals were inside or escaped.
Authorities said the fire was prevented from spreading to other units.
Details regarding the cause of the fire have not been released.
