An elderly woman lost her life in an accidental fire at a home in Austin. The unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday, August 6. The victim was identified as Mary Lynch aged 86. Another elderly person, a male in his 60s whose name has not been revealed, sustained critical injuries in the fire.
According to the details shared by the Chicago police, the fire incident took place late at night. The authorities were notified about the fire around midnight. It took some time to extricate both victims from the home where the fire broke out and the firefighters finally succeeded at pulling both out by 1:10 a.m.

The home where the fire broke out is located in the 1000 block of the North Parkside Avenue on the West Side. Preliminary investigations show that the fire somehow broke out on a mattress inside the bedroom of the victims. It caused fatal injuries to one and critical injuries to another while causing little damage to property other than the mattress.
Once both victims had been pulled from the fire, Mary Lynch was rushed to the West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. Attempts to revive her failed and she was pronounced dead at the hospital according to the details shared by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The man who had been critically injured in the incident was transported to the Loretto Hospital. His condition is reported stable following emergency treatment.
