The preliminary accident report showed that Eyler, a Cloverdale resident, was traveling in a Honda Civic with Lambert, of Clearlake, as her passenger. The two were heading west, and at the same time, Baldwin, driving a 2006 BMW X5 was heading east on the highway.
The CHP said that Eyler allowed her car to drift into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the BMW. The driver, Lambert, and Baldwin sustained severe injuries, and the medics took them with a land ambulance to Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport for treatment.
The police have ruled out drugs, alcohol, or a combination of both as factors in the accident. They are investigating to determine negligence and, on whose side, liability lies.
Traffic laws in California make it clear that drivers should always maintain their lanes and avoid drifting into opposite lanes. Failure to comply with the law is a traffic offense settled with a fine.
However, when an accident occurs, and there is an injury or death, it becomes a criminal case, and the offender would need to hire a car injury lawyer.
