Auto-bicycle accidents on public roads result from various reasons, and drivers of motor vehicles cause most of them. Some of the most common causes are unsafe lane changes, turning without looking out for cyclists, and driving too close to bike lanes and shoulders.
Others are distracted driving caused by using cell phones behind the wheel, speeding, weaving through traffic, and failing to leave adequate buffers for cyclists. Bicyclists struck by drivers can seek legal remedies if they wish to recover damages for injuries sustained and other losses suffered.
Victims can file a personal injury lawsuit, and families of deceased victims can bring a wrongful death lawsuit. Standard compensation awarded often covers medical bills, loss of income, loss of consortium, and emotional and psychological damages.
