SANTA CLARITA, CA – One man was killed after a tractor-trailer plummeted nearly 100 feet off of I-5 Monday afternoon.
According to the Santa Clarita Valley Signal, the incident occurred just north of Templin Highway shortly before 12:40 p.m.

One trooper with the CHP ran down the 70-foot embankment and pulled the driver from the truck.
The driver was airlifted to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The officer was also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Details regarding what may have caused the driver to go over the embankment have not yet been released.
