An accident on Sunday night, August 23rd, in the Merced County area of California left a minor dead and several others injured. The California Highway Patrol identified the fatal victim as 7-year-old Oakland resident, Drayden Drake.
The highway patrol named Tasjuan Drake, 28, of Oakdale, and Heather Hill, 25, of Oakdale as two of the injured victims. A male and female minor, aged 2 and 4 respectively, also suffered injuries, but have not been identified.

Facts from the accident report disclosed that the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on Turlock and Oakdale roads near Denair. Tasjuan drove a 2011 Cadillac SUV northbound on Oakdale Road when he collided with a 2013 Ford Fusion operated by 58-year-old Coulterville resident Catherine Brehm.
The CHP said that the Ford was eastbound on Turlock Road. Drayden, a passenger in the Cadillac, lived long enough to make it to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock where he passed away. Tasjuan and Hill, another passenger in the SUV, suffered significant injuries and medics transported them to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
The injured minors, who traveled in the Cadillac, received treatment for moderate injuries at Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera. The highway patrol did not state if Brehm sustained injuries from the collision. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
