Brewster at about 10:40 a.m. May 27 was driving south on Interstate 90/94, authorities said. While she was traveling through the interchange with Interstate 290, she was involved in a wreck with two other vehicles, according to car accident reports.
Emergency medical personnel transported Brewster to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries, according to authorities. However, she ultimately died from her wounds May 29 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office announced this week.
Authorities have not released many details about the incident and the moments preceding. None of the other drivers were identified and it is unclear whether anyone else was injured as a result of the wreck. Troopers did not say whether any of the drivers had passengers at the time of the crash.
It is unclear from car accident reports whether any of the three drivers have been deemed at fault, and troopers have not said whether they suspect the involvement of contributing factors like intoxication, inattentive driving or speed.
