The roadway is approximately 300 yards south of Giacomini Ranch. The investigators said that the victim reportedly rode a 2007 Honda CBR600RR sportbike at moderate speed. He failed to negotiate a sweeping turn on the roadway and crossed over the painted center dividing lines.
Turchie then struck a utility pole on the westside shoulder of the roadway. The impact ejected him from the motorcycle, leaving him unconscious and unresponsive. The sheriff’s office said that bystanders performed CPR on the teenager, and the first responders continued when they arrived.
The medics were unable to resuscitate the victim, and they pronounced him dead at the scene. Fielding said they scheduled a post-mortem and toxicology test later this week. He added that the cause and manner of death would remain pending until the California Highway Patrol Marin Office, the MCSO-Coroner Division, conclude their investigation.
The Coroner Division will not release any additional information at this time. Anyone with questions or information about the occurrence should contact the CHP.
