The car was driven by 22-year-old Christian Julian Leon who was arrested after the incident.
The man in the house only received minor injuries despite the fact that the car rendered the structure uninhabitable.
Firemen on the scene had to use the jaws of life to free the resident from the accident site.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle were checked out by paramedics on the scene for injuries. After being cleared, they were turned over to the police department.
Leon was arrested at the scene of the accident for suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury and a DUI with a blood-alcohol level higher than the state minimum of .08%. Because of the injuries caused, these are both considered felony charges.
The passenger of the vehicle was identified as 22-year-old Andrew Gabriel Carrillo. He was ticketed for misdemeanor suspicion of public intoxication. They set his bail at $5,000.
Leon was being held at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. This is in lieu of a $50,000 bail.
There were four occupants in the home at the time of the accident. They are currently being sheltered by relatives until the home can be fixed.
The Fire Department on the scene assessed the damages caused by Leon and his car. They are estimating that the house has about $200,000 worth of damage done to it from the accident.
The car went through a utility pole, two yards, and the wall of the home before coming to rest in the resident’s room. The investigation into the accident is currently still ongoing.
