Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene and treated Boys, the passenger, for minor injuries. The preliminary investigation showed that the UTV was eastbound on Roberts Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve.
The vehicle left the roadway, and Black overcorrected while trying to bring it back to the road, causing it to overturn. The accident remains under investigation.
Riding utility terrain vehicles requires care and caution, and operators must follow the safety guidelines. Riders must wear the right gear; it covers long pants, a long-sleeve shirt, boots, helmets, chest protector, motocross pants, motocross boots, and knee guards.
UTV’s can be a little tricky, so ride alongside friends if possible. The vehicle was built for off-road terrains; thus avoid riding on paved or public roads, and don’t stay too far from designated trails. The car should match the rider’s skill set, avoid doing donuts, keep arms inside the UTV, and avoid driving while impaired.
