The driver then turned south onto Stine Road, and at the same time, Etherton was heading east on Lawrence Highway. The two collided, and the impact caused the deceased to eject from his vehicle and land on the roadway.
Etherton was pronounced dead at the scene, and the medics took the driver of the Ford to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no information on the degree of liability of the woman, and there’s no additional details at this time.
The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office is heading the investigation into the crash and will provide updates as events unfold.
Most accident reports show that when a vehicle and a motorcycle collide, the motorcyclist is more likely to have fatal injuries than the driver of the car. When the bike rider dies, the investigators look at whether he or she was negligent in any way, or if the fault lies solely at the feet of the motorist.
If it’s the latter, the investigators will bring a criminal charge against the driver, and the victim’s family can bring a civil lawsuit to recover damages. In either case, those involved would have to secure the services of a motorcycle accident attorney.
