The driver, who is from Table Grove, Illinois, was in a black 2001 Volkswagen Beetle. Brockley was traveling south on Country Road 13 when he began to run off of the road to the right side.
Brockley then overcorrected the car to the left. This caused the car to travel down an embankment to the left of the road. When the car left the road, it hit a number of small trees and turned over.
After this chain of events, the vehicle finally came to rest upside down. Emergency services transported Brockley to McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Illinois. However, his injuries are not life-threatening, and he is expected to fully recover.
Officials said the cause of this car wreck is that Brockley failed to reduce his speed to avoid getting into an accident. The state police charged Brockley with failure to wear a seatbelt, driving too fast for the road conditions, driving with an expired registration, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, Astoria Fire/Rescue, and Fulton County Ambulance all assisted the state police.
