Thirty-six-year-old Heather Turner of Bowdon was one of 15 people to die on Georgia’s roads over the long Memorial Day weekend.
Georgia State Patrol investigators believe a distracted driver was responsible for the accident in which another person was injured.

According to accident reports, the crash occurred around 6:40 p.m. on Georgia 166 at the intersection with Kuglar Road near Bowdon.
The authorities said 32-year-old Brittany Keeton of Bremen told troopers she was looking at her daughter in the backseat when the accident happened.
She allegedly said she didn’t notice that a motorcycle in front of her was about to turn.
Keeton crashed into the rear of the Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle with her 2018 Chevy Malibu as it entered the intersection.
State Patrol said Turner and 44-year-old Carrollton resident Bobby Thomas were ejected from the motorcycle.
Turner succumbed to her injuries while Thomas was hospitalized.
Meanwhile, Keeton is expected to be charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, not wearing a seat belt, and following too closely.
According to GSP accident reports, there was only a slight reduction in the number of people who died across the state this holiday weekend. In 2019, 17 people died while there were eight fatalities in 2018.
The GSP’s Lt. Stephanie Stallings said too many people were being killed on Georgia’s roadways and the goal was to achieve zero deaths.
Traffic-related deaths were reported both in metro Atlanta and other areas of the state.
In addition to the deadly crashes probed by troopers, police agencies in Forest Park, Atlanta, Cobb County and Gwinnett County also handled fatalities.
Survivors may have grounds for wrongful death claims in some situations.
