The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office has released the autopsy results of a 26-year-old Atlanta woman who was killed in an accident on March 4. The accident occurred on Woodruff Farm Road. The accident was described by officers as car vs. pole.
Based on what officers found at the scene, Keisha Edwards and her passenger were in an initial collision with a utility pole. There were no utility lines attached to the pole, but there were guidewires that had been knocked down into the road.

At the time of the initial accident, Edwards and her passenger got out of the car to assess the damage when a good Samaritan joined them to see if they were okay. A car that was coming through the accident site did not see the guidewires in the road due to the weather conditions.
This caused the guidewires to swing the pole like a pendulum.
The pole hit all three people standing near Edwards’ car. Edwards died at the scene from the injuries sustained. Her passenger ended up with a broken leg and the good Samaritan had a broken foot.
It was initially released that Edwards died as a result of the injuries from the pole hitting her. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Medical Examiner, in agreement with Coroner Buddy Bryan from Muscogee County, that it was not the pole that killed Edwards.
The autopsy revealed that Edwards died of blunt force trauma to the torso, which was sustained from the initial car accident.
There is a possibility that after the initial collision, Edwards was suffering from internal bleeding and was not aware of it. The most common organs that are involved in injuries like this are the spleen, liver, kidneys, diaphragm, and pancreas.
Officials are ruling this as a “freak accident”.
