The autopsy results for a car crash victim were released by the Cook County medical examiner’s office on Friday, August 7. As per these results, the medical examiner’s office confirmed that the victim had died due to the complications caused by crash injuries. The victim was identified as John McKinley, 71, of Woodridge.
McKinley had been critically injured in a crash that occurred last month. On July 29, McKinley was traveling at the Rockhurst Road and Bolingbrook Drive early in the morning when he ran into an accident. The incident was reported to the authorities at around 9:45 a.m.

Once first responders and paramedics arrived on the scene of the crash, McKinley was rushed to the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. Attempts were made to help him survive his severe injuries. However, these failed when he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, August 4. The medical examiner’s office pronounced him dead at 12:40 p.m.
According to the autopsy results which arrived on Friday, John McKinley had sustained serious blunt force injuries to his chest. These injuries finally caused him to die. Based on the autopsy report, the authorities deemed his death accidental.
Investigations into the incident are still ongoing. It is not clear at this point whether any other individuals or vehicles were involved in the incident, or if it was a single-vehicle crash.
