The investigators said that the collision involved a vehicle driven by Madrid and a semi-truck. The details of the events that led to the accident are not immediately available, but the deceased and the other motorist were travelling on the same roadway. The impact of the collision caused the victim’s 2012 Cadillac to catch fire.
There was nothing the first responders could do for Madrid, and the medics pronounced him dead. There is no information on whether the driver of the semi-truck sustained any wound or if he or she is liable for the fatal accident.
The reports of the car accident also disclosed that the investigators have not determined if drugs, alcohol, or both, played a role in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with helpful information should contact the Sylmar CHP on the listed line.
The crash led to the closure of the eastbound lanes for more than five hours while the authorities investigated and cleared out debris. They reopened the freeway at about 4:15 a.m. on Friday, May 15th, and traffic flowed freely.
