A 59-year-old man named Alex Zuniga was killed in a fatal car crash in Tuscon on Wednesday, February 5th. The accident took place at roughly 6 AM. Zuniga was killed when his car swerved off the road and struck a tree on the side of the road.
Zuniga was alone in his vehicle and there were no other victims of the accident. The driver was not wearing his safety belt at the time of impact, which contributed to the injuries his sustained.

Zuniga was a prominent member of his community and was the previous manager of Adair’s Carroon Mortuary.
The exact reason why Zuniga swerved off the road and drove into the tree are not known at this time. However, the police are investigating to try to get to the bottom of what happened. Following the accident, Interstate 19, where the crash took place was closed for a number of hours.
While the road was closed, police investigated the scene. However, the interstate was reoped to through-traffic once they concluded their investigations. It is not clear if Zuniga had a medical emergency such as a heart attack that might have contributed to the accident or whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
All that is known is that he did not survive the crash. His community will mourn his loss as will his family and friends.
