NORTH COUNTY, CA – An accident on I-5 in North County sent a motorcyclist and a California Highway Patrol officer to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon, ABC 10 reports.
The incident occurred in the southbound lanes of I-5 near Lomas Santa Fe Drive around 4:20 p.m.

The officer was removing a ladder from the highway when a 61-year-old motorcycle rider hit the center divider and was thrown from his motorcycle. As he flew off the bike, he collided with the CHP officer.
Both victims were hospitalized with major injuries. It is not known why the motorcycle rider hit the divider.
