The accident report revealed that a northbound BMW SUV attempted to make a left turn to Olemas. Simultaneously, Clayton tried to pass the vehicle on the left side over the double yellow lines on the roadway.
The California Highway Patrol said the two-wheeled drive collided with the SUV, causing the victim to crash off the road and rest in a grassy field. The bike caught fire, and the BMW driver took the unresponsive man away from the burning vegetation.
The driver and medics with the first responders tried reviving the man, but they could not resuscitate him. The paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, and firefighters extinguished the flames.
Clayton’s death’s cause is pending results of a forensic post-mortem examination and toxicology testing. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Motorcycle riders have to protect themselves when on the road and avoid situations that would result in a fatal collision. When operating the two-wheeled drive, ensure there is enough space for passing and lane splitting, avoid speeding and ride without impairment of drugs or alcohol.
