Two inmates were stabbed a minute apart from each other in a general population yard — Facility D, Level II — at California State Prison, Solano in Vacaville on Wednesday, Jan 29.
At about 3:20 p.m. two inmates attacked Mizrain Nava Cano. 26, by stabbing him several times in the back and the neck. The two suspects are Pedro Garcia and Greg Medrano.

A minute later two more inmates stabbed Jorge Cruz-Banuelos, 30, in the neck, chest and back in the same general population prison yard. Those suspects are Gabriel Mora and Richard Raya.
Authorities believe the incidents are related.
Officers used blast grenades and pepper spray to control the scene and stop the attacks. Three weapons were uncovered.
Both victims came from Sonoma County.
Nava Cano went to prison in 2017 and was serving a 13-year sentence for voluntary manslaughter.
Cruz-Banuelos was in since 2013 and was in the middle of serving a nearly 18-year sentence for assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting bodily harm, criminal gang activity and a previous felony conviction.
The four suspects came several areas of the state:
- Garcia, 31, from Kings County and serving six years for manufacturing a controlled substance.
- Medrano, 38, also from Kings County and serving 32 years for attempted second-degree murder, inflicting great bodily harm, discharging a firearm and carjacking.
- Mora, 42, from Tulare County and serving 15 years for assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, use of a firearm and inflicting great bodily harm.
- Raya, 25, came from San Joaquin County and was serving 12 years for assault with a semiautomatic firearm and inflicting great bodily harm.
