Sandoval, who drove the Integra, was unconscious and critically injured. Medics rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds about an hour later. The other two drivers sustained minor injuries and received treatment.

The RPD said the victim stole the Acura from a laundromat in the 400 block of West Baseline a few minutes before the accident. The crash manner is still under investigation, and the investigators will release an update once they have more information.

Motor vehicle collisions happen for otherwise avoidable reasons. Common causes of accidents are driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving with distractions, running red lights and traffic signs, speeding, and road rage.

Other causes are adverse road conditions, adverse weather like rain, snow, fog, mechanical failure, and animal sightings. Drivers can mitigate these factors by obeying traffic rules and regulations and prioritizing their safety and other road users.
