The crash report revealed Delgadillo was traveling along Rosecrans and ran a red light at about 7:30 a.m. Surveillance footage of the area showed her traveling at top speed as she struck the boy. The suspect failed to slow down, and the collision impact threw the victim into the air before he landed on the floor.
He suffered a severe head injury and remained hospitalized as of Friday. The investigators identified the woman’s vehicle as a Toyota and obtained the license plate number. A search of the plate took them to an address in the Riverside area, but officers discovered the registered owner also had a home in Gardena.
The police obtained a warrant to search the house in Gardena and found the vehicle covered in the garage. They said that some damage from the collision had already been repaired and they impounded the car as evidence after forensic personnel processed it.
The HPD released Delgadillo a day after her arrest with a citation. There is no additional information at this time.
