For unknown reasons, the victim moved into the nearby vehicle lane, directly into a Honda Accord path. The investigators said the scooter had no lights or reflective material and was dark in color.

The 26-year-old driver of the Honda failed to see Miller and struck his scooter’s rear. It happened west of Chester Avenue. The victim sustained severe injuries, and medics conveyed him to a local hospital for treatment.

He remained there until his death on Wednesday, October 14th. The CHP said the Honda driver did not sustain any injury in the accident. There is no information about a citation at the time of this report.

Accidents of this nature are avoidable if scooter riders exercise more care and caution on the road. Those who ride at night should have their lights on, stick to well-lit routes, wear reflective materials, and stay on the designated bike lane. On their part, drivers should avoid distractions, look out for scooter riders and bikers, and yield to them.
