The Madison County State Attorney’s Office charged a man for an accident that killed a minor in Godfrey, Illinois, on Monday, August 31st. Paul Broadway is facing charges of failure to report an accident involving death, and he would need a top accident lawyer’s expertise.

The attorney’s office said the suspect remains in custody on a $100,000 bail bond and if convicted, he would likely spend between 4 and 15 years in state prison. The Madison County Sheriff’s Department said that around 3:30p.m., 2-year-old Ellee Grace Kiser chased her dog into the street when Broadway’s pickup truck struck her.

The prosecutors said the man stopped briefly after the collision, then drove off. Medics airlifted Kiser, who resided on West Delmar near Pine Grove, to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy confirmed that the girl died from blunt head and neck trauma.

The sheriff’s department said they launched a search for Broadway and located him three hours after the incident with tips from the public. Major Jeff Conor, the Chief Deputy Sheriff of MCSD, said that social media played a role in helping them quickly locate and arrest the suspect.

A hit-and-run accident occurs when a person involved in a collision leaves the scene without stopping or helping an injured person. A person would also be liable for the offense if there’s only property damage, and he or she leaves without leaving behind his or her contact information.
