The California Highway Patrol revealed in a press release early Wednesday, August 26th, that they have identified the man involved in a hit-and-run accident in Willows, California. Ronald Huffman, a 52-year-old city resident, would need a car accident attorney’s service.

The CHP stated in the release that the suspect struck a pedestrian around 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, July 5th. Huffman allegedly drove his Acura south on County Road 99W after turning from County Road 48. He traveled at approximately 40 miles per hour.

Simultaneously, the victim, Benjamin Maisonet, 24, of Chico, was in the southbound lane of 99W south of Road 48. He was directly in front of the Acura, and the suspect continued driving south after striking the man.

The investigators said that another driver saw Maisonet lying on the roadway and called 911. Responding medics transported the victim to Enloe Medical Center, where he received treatment for severe injuries. The CHP referred the investigation to the Glenn County District Attorney’s Office and will release an update after the formal filing of charges.

The highway patrol stated in the press release that officers worked diligently to locate Huffman, and they are also thankful to numerous citizens and businesses who contributed. They noted that the community’s cooperation was integral to the determination of the sequence of events that precipitated the victim’s injury and the person responsible.

There is no additional information at this time. Drivers can prevent hit-and-run charges by remaining at the scene of an accident and carrying out the law’s requirements.
