The TPD said that at about 1 p.m., they dispatched officers to the crash site on North 15th Avenue, west of Oracle Road, after a severe injury collision call. Upon arrival, the officers conducted a preliminary investigation and uncovered that Doyle drove a 2015 Chrysler 200 east on Grant Road.

The police said that the victim was either about to turn north onto 15th Avenue or make a U-turn. While he was still in that position, a 2006 Hyundai Sonata heading west on Grant struck Doyle’s vehicle’s passenger side. The impact pushed the Chrysler into a large power pole.

A DUI officer went to the hospital and determined that the Hyundai driver was not intoxicated when the accident happened. The police believe that excessive speed and failure to yield when making the left turn might have contributed to the collision.

The investigation into the occurrence remains active. The TPD has not issued any citation at this time, but that might change pending the conclusion of their inquiry.
