The driver on the Jacobs Avenue failed to halt for a stop sign. This brought the vehicle into a collision with the other vehicle that was traveling on the Manning Avenue. The sheer impact of the collision pushed both vehicles towards the shoulder of the road. The vehicles then collided with a telephone pole and became aflame.
The incident occurred in the evening and was reported to the authorities at around 8:15 p.m. Both vehicles were severely damaged and both drivers sustained critical injuries. Hugo Hernandez was one of the two drivers. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
