The home where the fire broke out is located in the 1000 block of the North Parkside Avenue on the West Side. Preliminary investigations show that the fire somehow broke out on a mattress inside the bedroom of the victims. It caused fatal injuries to one and critical injuries to another while causing little damage to property other than the mattress.

Once both victims had been pulled from the fire, Mary Lynch was rushed to the West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. Attempts to revive her failed and she was pronounced dead at the hospital according to the details shared by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The man who had been critically injured in the incident was transported to the Loretto Hospital. His condition is reported stable following emergency treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine how the fire broke out in the first place. Subsequent accident reports may show if any foul play was involved.
