A man who fled the sheriff deputies in Humboldt County, California, and crashed into a patrol car would need auto accident attorneys’ services. According to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, they arrested 32-year-old Frans Albert Nelson III of Anderson on Tuesday night, August 4th.
Sheriff’s officials said that at about 10 p.m., a deputy on patrol in the area of Murray Road and McKinleyville Avenue tried to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle for a code violation. Nelson, the driver, failed to stop, and the lawman pursued the car for about one mile.

The deputy terminated the pursuit for safety concerns and lost sight of the suspect a short while after. The man continued on Murray Rd. toward Fieldbrook, and deputies continued patrolling the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle. Around 11:20 p.m., the lawmen responded to the 800-block of Arthur Road after a call about a suspicious-looking car with two occupants.
When they arrived, the deputies discovered that Nelson was the driver of the vehicle and tried to stop him. The suspect attempted to flee again, but ended up striking a patrol car and downed trees before resting. The lawmen performed a felony traffic stop and detained the two occupants of the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle uncovered about 1.9 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and an open bottle of alcohol. They arrested Nelson on several felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run, and felony evading.
The passenger in the vehicle identified as 22-year-old Destiny Justine Bell of Redding was cited and released on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Nelson is at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, and there’s no information on his bail.
