Sunday evening, July 26th, was an emotional time for the family of Anthony Everett Ball, the 25-year-old man who died in a solo car crash early Saturday morning, July 25th. The incident happened around 2 a.m. in Salinas, California.

The car accident report released by the Salinas Police Department showed that Ball was driving down East Boronda Road at high speed. It caused him to lose control of the vehicle, and he struck a light pole. The crash impact was so severe that it split the car in two and caught fire.

The police said that they have not uncovered the cause of the crash, and the man was the only victim. The investigation remains active.

Ball’s family and friends said that he was heading home from work when the crash occurred. They held a vigil for him on Sunday, and they described him as a kind, positive person, whom they will dearly miss.

Solo vehicle crashes are not uncommon, and they occur for several reasons that can be a result of negligence or factors beyond the control of the driver. The elements are avoidable if road users pay attention to the roadway when driving, avoid drinking and driving, avoid running red lights, and disobeying traffic rules.

Drivers maintaining their lanes, and the legal and posted speed limits would also help prevent car crashes. Additionally, motorists should avoid tailgating; they should properly maintain their cars and seek alternative means of transportation if they feel impaired.
