The investigators said they had to extricate one person from one of the cars involved. They also disclosed that Arellano died at the scene, and the medics attended to one person with minor injuries. The collision led to the closure of H-74 between Hammock Avenue and Trellis Lane for several hours. The investigation is ongoing.
Motor vehicle collisions are not uncommon, and they occur quite often. Several factors cause this type of accident, and most of them happen at intersections. Some common causes are disobedience to traffic lights or stop signs by running red lights or failing to yield, and driving the wrong way.
A wrong-way driver is a person who heads in the opposite direction on a lane intended to go a different route. It causes head-on collisions that sometimes lead to fatal consequences. Drivers can avoid this by obeying traffic rules and regulations, and maintaining their lane.
