A 58-year-old Uber Eats delivery driver named Mohssine Chihani is currently being treated for injuries sustained when he tried to stop a suspect who had hit his car on Wednesday, January 29, while backing out of a parking space. The entire fender bender, which was minor, was caught on a surveillance camera at the convenience store.

Witnesses reported that Chihani had just picked up a delivery order from a taco truck that was in the vicinity of the convenience store when the gray Nissan backed into his car. The drivers got into an argument over exchanging their insurance information. Chihani tried to get a photo of the Nissan’s license plate, presumably to file the report, and the driver was not happy about this.

In an alleged attempt to flee the scene and prevent Chihani from getting the license plate number, the driver of the Nissan began to leave the scene. When the driver decides to do this, Chihani decides that he is going to climb up on the top of the Nissan’s hood to get the driver to stop.

Unphased by Chihani’s act, the driver continued to leave the parking lot with the delivery driver on top of the hood of his car.

Houston Fire Department paramedics found Chihani lying in the road about a block away from where the incident had started. It appeared as though he had fallen from the hood of the car. He was taken to the hospital for head injuries sustained from getting on the hood of the car. He was reported as being in critical condition.

Under Texas law, the driver of the Nissan could be facing a class B or class C misdemeanor (depending on the value of the damage to Chihani’s car) for leaving the scene of the initial accident where he backed into Chihani’s car. If he is convicted of leaving the injured delivery driver in the road, the driver could be facing up to a third-degree felony sentence.
