DEADLY AUTO-PEDESTRIAN CRASH INVESTIGATION

Police in the Southeast Washington, D.C. area are deeply examining this case and are strongly encouraging anyone with relevant details to dial 202-727-9099 or text their tip line at 50411.

The unfortunate and devastating death of Cheryln Bell all but highlights the hazards that pedestrians face every day in the United States, especially in urban and more congested areas and regions of the country.

Just around 6,227 pedestrians died as a result of accidents in the U.S. in 2018, representing an increase of 250 from a year earlier, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association. Pedestrian deaths nationwide have grown 41 percent since 2008 and now represent 16 percent of all traffic-related deaths.

During their investigation, D.C. officials will attempt to figure out what caused the driver to hit and kill Ms. Bell.

According to the Legal Advocate:

“Having the proper resources is extremely important in order to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Sanchez-Gordon. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must thoroughly be examined. These procedures are necessary for helping those who have lost a loved one receive the justice that they deserve.”
