Thirty-two-year-old Kyle A. Wooden, of Southeast, was arrested the day following the crash, which was reported at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday near Stronghold, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department reported. Authorities said he fled the scene on foot after crashing into another vehicle at an intersection.

Court records do not say whether Wooden has acquired representation from a car injury attorney.
Wooden at about 6:25 p.m. Sunday was driving through the intersection of Bryant and North Capitol streets when he crashed into another vehicle, authorities said. Police said Wooden then fled the scene on foot.
The occupants in the second vehicle were transported to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, according to police. However, both were pronounced dead not long after the wreck, authorities said.
One of the vehicle’s occupants was identified as 81-year-old Donald Malloy, of Temple Hills. The second person who was killed has not been publicly identified by authorities.
Wooden was taken into custody Monday and charged with second-degree murder, court documents state. Police believe Wooden was speeding just before the crash, though they have not said whether they suspect the involvement of other factors, such as intoxication.
The police department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit continues to investigate the incident. A car injury attorney will help Wooden’s defense against the murder charge and any other charges that are brought forward.
