Motor vehicle accidents occur for several reasons and are not uncommon in Texas and the United States. The common causes of accidents include speeding, running red lights, impairment of drugs or alcohol, tailgating, adverse weather, and road conditions.
Those involved in accidents should call for help immediately, wait for the authorities to arrive, gather evidence, and take witness statements. A driver should file a car accident report when the authorities arrive at the scene until the police clear him or her of any offense.
