The deceased was riding a bicycle on Frederick street between Willard and Arguello. A driver of a parked vehicle on the side of the road opened the door of his car into the path of the bicyclist.

This caused O’Conner’s ejection from the bike onto active traffic. A passing vehicle then struck him. He sustained severe injuries as a result of the impact.

Emergency responders rushed the victim to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. However, O’Conner gave up the ghost during treatment. The police are continuing investigations into the crash and are yet to release further information.

Motorcyclists and bicyclists have to be careful whenever they are riding their bikes on the roadway. They must be alert and vigilant and ride safely at all times.

Motorists have to look out for riders and pedestrians at all times and also drive cautiously. They must avoid speeding to avoid collisions that could lead to death and injuries.

Anyone involved in a bicycle crash should contact a bicycle accident attorney to help with the case, whether for representation in court or compensation.
