The DUI driver who struck and killed a pedestrian on a roadway in Bakersfield, California, would need a top accident lawyer following the victim’s identification. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, May 26th, identified the deceased as Luciana Perez, a 32-year-old Lamont resident.

The preliminary accident report released by the California Highway Patrol showed that auto-pedestrian collision occurred at 10:49 p.m. on Highway 184 near E. Wilson Road on Monday night, May 25th. The investigators said Perez walked into the way of a 2014 Volkswagen Passat.

The woman sustained severe wounds, and the medics transported her to Kern Medical Center. Sadly, the victim passed away despite the best effort of medical personnel. The unidentified Volkswagen motorist stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The CHP officers took the driver into custody after determining that the individual was driving under the influence. They did not state what the charge against the motorist is. But, under California law, an intoxicated driver who kills another gets tried for vehicular manslaughter in addition to a DUI trial.

The fatal accident remains under investigation. Those who witnessed the collision and desire to give a statement should contact the Bakersfield Area Office of the CHP.

The California Office of Traffic Safety admonishes drivers and pedestrians to work together to demonstrate safe behaviors on the road, to protect themselves and those around them. The two sides of the divide must follow safety tips and the rules of driving and crossing.

Those with liabilities in an auto-pedestrian accident should contact a top accident lawyer to represent their interest.
