The services of a car injury lawyer would help handle legal issues following the identification of the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run accident in Pacoima, Los Angeles, California. On Tuesday, May 26th, the authorities disclosed the victim’s name as Jose De La Rosa, 54.

The crash report released on Friday, May 22nd, showed that the deceased was a homeless man living in the city. At about 9 p.m., in an alley east of Remick Avenue and North Osborne Street, a car struck De La Rosa.

The Los Angeles Police Department said that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping to check on the then-injured man. De La Rosa’s injuries were so extensive that they claimed his life at the accident site. The medics pronounced him and took his body to the coroner for identification.

The hunt for the hit-and-run driver is on, and there’s a standing reward not exceeding $50 000 for anyone who offers information that leads to a positive arrest. Witnesses should contact the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division on the listed line.

California law defines a hit-and-run as an accident involving a vehicle hitting a pedestrian, a cyclist, a motorcyclist, or another car (occupied or unoccupied) and fleeing the scene without stopping to render help or providing his or her information.

Prosecutors try the offense as a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the circumstances of the case. When there’s a death, an offender faces time in state prison and would require representation from a car injury lawyer.
