The impact of the collision left the female motorist trapped in her car, and it took the combined efforts of officers and the firemen from the Ventura County Fire Department to get her out. The medics transported her to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries.
The investigators said that Whitteker fled the scene in his car, but later had a change of heart, and returned on foot. They determined that the suspect was intoxicated at the time of the crash, and arrested him on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run.
The officers booked the man into the Ventura County Jail and set his bail at $50 000. He is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Friday, May 22nd. There is no additional information at this time.
Driving under the influence of drugs or (and) alcohol and hit-and-run are severe offenses in California with punishments that cover time in prison if a death occurs. Anyone involved in either of the two or both should contact a top accident lawyer for legal advice and representation.
