A young woman died in an ATV accident that occurred in San Juan, Texas, on Sunday, May 17th. The authorities in an accident report revealed the victim’s name as Jennifer Gutierrez, a 25-year-old resident of the city.
Sargent Christopher Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a press release that the deceased was one out of three people riding an all-terrain vehicle. The accident occurred at midnight on Piedras Negras Street, located south of Ridge Road in San Juan.

Troopers didn’t find out about the crash until about 7 a.m. after Gutierrez passed away while receiving treatment. Olivarez said the medical personnel at McAllen Medical Center didn’t know what law enforcement agency to call because the crash involved an ATV.
A preliminary investigation revealed to the TDPS that Gutierrez, who was a passenger on the all-terrain vehicle, fell off while it was in motion. She sustained severe wounds that landed her in the hospital. The sergeant did not state what became of the other occupants of the ATV, and their identities remain unknown.
Olivarez added that they are still investigating to see if the driver of the vehicle is liable for the accident in any way. Alcohol or drugs did not play a role in the fatal crash, and the investigators will provide an update later.
Facts gathered from accident reports show that ATV crashes are not uncommon. Traffic authorities advise riders to acquaint themselves with the vehicle’s safety guidelines and ensure that they only carry passengers on ATVs designed to hold more than one person.
