The investigators, per the GPD Spokesman Lt. Justin Martin, believe that Alarcon ran from her family home into the driveway, in front of a moving car. Officers arrived at the accident scene on Auburn Avenue a little before 1:30 p.m. and rushed the child to the hospital.

Alarcon was in critical condition, and she remained hospitalized until she passed away. The police are treating the events that led to the end of the toddler’s life as an accident. Parish said the prayers and thoughts of the police department are with the victim’s family as they mourn their dead.

Motor vehicle accidents involving drivers and pedestrians often happen for several reasons. Accident reports show that older and young people are the most affected when a car hits the body. To prevent this, traffic officials advise drivers to pay attention to their environment.

Motorists on private driveways should ensure they position their side mirrors correctly, before attempting a reverse. Move out slowly and ensure there is no one behind and ahead before driving out.
