The services of a car injury lawyer would be useful in addressing legal issues arising from a hit-and-run accident in the Kingsburg area, of California. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office said that 30-year-old Gary Banks lost his life after a car struck him on Monday, May 11th.

The Kingsburg Police Department revealed that after midnight, they dispatched officers to Clarkson and 12th Avenue after receiving a call about an auto-pedestrian crash. When they arrived at the scene, they found Banks lying on the roadway, unresponsive.

The investigators said that neither the driver nor the vehicle that struck the deceased was at the scene when they arrived. The unidentified motorist, who remains at large, did not stop to render help in any way.

The police believe that the vehicle that hit Banks would have front-end damage from when it collided with the man’s body. They asked witnesses to come forward, and anyone with information on the driver and the car’s whereabouts should contact the KPD station.

A hit-and-run is a severe offense in California, and the courts frown at it. Investigators recommend that prosecutors try the offense as a misdemeanor or felony depending on the facts of the case. During the trial, the court would look at the fact that the offender struck and hit a person with his or her vehicle.

It would also look at the fact that the offender failed to perform a legal or carried out an illegal act, and the performance or non-performance led to the death or bodily injury of another. A conviction means time in prison, a fine, and restriction of driving privileges.

Those involved in auto-pedestrian crashes should hire a car injury lawyer to represent their interests.
