Woods, who was driving an Acura Integra, approached the intersection from the east lane of the same roadway. The GSP said that for unknown reasons, the front of Brooks’ log truck struck the driver’s side of the woman’s car.
The impact of the collision left Woods with significant injuries. The first responders used an air ambulance to airlift the victim to the Medical Center in Macon, where she succumbed to her wounds. The male driver was unscathed, and the authorities did not state if the man would get cited or charged.
The accident remains under investigation, and the GSP will provide an update once investigators complete the accident report.
Accidents often result in a series of lawsuits that are either criminal or civil, depending on the circumstances of each case. A criminal charge can be for a hit-and-run, DUI driving, or vehicular manslaughter. The three carry time in prison for a convicted person.
The civil can be a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit to recover damages. Those suing for either of the two would require a car injury attorney for legal advice and representation.
