Accidents occur at the least expected times, and often result in fatalities or life altering injuries. Some of the factors that lead to crashes are avoidable, while others are beyond the control and influence of the driver.
Based on accident reports, the uncontrollable factors include a defect in the vehicle, unforeseen road conditions and animal sightings, and underlying medical issues. Traffic officials believe these factors can be mitigated if drivers follow traffic rules.
The rules include maintaining one’s lane, not drinking and driving, maintaining the speed limit, and not running red lights. Obeying stop signs also helps, as well as avoiding distractions and driving with utmost care and caution.
