Auto accident attorneys would come in handy for a driver who ran a red light in Sutallee, Georgia and killed a woman when their vehicles collided. The authorities identified the victim of the Friday, April 10th, accident as Kathleen Quigley.

The preliminary investigation by the authorities uncovered that the woman died from the injuries sustained after a semi-truck struck her SUV. Eyewitnesses told investigators that Clifford Anderson, 68, was heading east on Georgia 108 at about 8:15 a.m. when he ran a red light.

The act caused him to hit Quigley, who was at the same time turning onto Knox Bridge Highway from Upper Sweetwater Trail. First responders at the scene took the woman to the Northside Hospital Cherokee, where she succumbed to her wounds.

The police did not reveal whether or not Anderson remained at the scene or if he will get charged. The case remains under investigation, and updates will be provided as things unfold.

When an accident occurs, the investigators try to find out on whose side the liability lies. It mostly lies on the part of the driver, while sometimes, the victim could be the negligent party and share part of the negligence.

In this case, Georgia law is clear on whose side liability lies as it’s a traffic offense for a driver to run a red light. Drivers in the state are to obey every traffic regulation, and stop at intersections to avoid collisions.

Those who flaunt the rule and cause an accident should consult auto accident attorneys for legal advice on their rights and possible punishments.
