Based on preliminary reports, the police believe that Robinson lost control of the vehicle, skidding into the ditch on the east side of the road. The truck came to a rest after striking a tree about a quarter-mile north of 10th Avenue.
Robinson was not alone in the truck. His passengers were 56-year-old Paul Yarolem and 47-year-old Debra Robinson.
The driver, Robinson, and Yarolem were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the Whiteside County Coroner Joe McDonald.
The female Robinson was injured in the accident and taken to MercyOne Hospital in Clinton, Iowa, by emergency personnel. The police have not released the extensiveness of her injuries.
The Fulton Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services assisted the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office during the accident.
The authorities have not released any speculation as to what may have caused the accident. The investigation is considered open and ongoing. The accident and victims will be examined to see if alcohol or impairment was a factor.
